| Customer Reviews: so comfortable! March 23, 2010 Seastar (Georgia) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this backpack when my daughter became too big to front carry at 8 months old. I wanted something really comfortable for her and me, and with features like a sun/rain shade so we could get a lot of use out of it. After reading tons of reviews on various styles and brands - Ergo, Kelty, REI, etc, I chose this one. It was more than I had planned to spend but has been well worth it. What sold me was how adjustable the pack is for the wearer - I'm 5'2" with a short torso, and I wanted a really good fit for me, but the ability to easily adjust it for my husband to use, as well. Also, some other styles don't have as comfortable of a seat for the child - this one is wider, easy to adjust, and even with the shade, my daughter has a great view. Other positives: it's easy to get her in and out of the pack, she seems to enjoy being in it - always eventually falls asleep and is well supported when she does, and there's tons of storage. I only wish it had some sort of footrest for her. We use the pack both for 20 min walks to the mailbox and for day hiking in the mountains. I find it so comfortable that my husband hasn't even gotten to use it yet because I can so easily carry our daughter for hours at a time in it.
Nothing else compares! June 19, 2009 Adrienne Jensen (Salt Lake City, UT USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
If you took all the good things about all the other kid-carrying backpacks and put them into one pack, it would be this one. I spent so very many hours researching these things before we made the big purchase. We live in Salt Lake, a hiker's paradise, and these backpacks are no small decision--comfort is a big deal and so is convenience. In all of my product research, I couldn't find another pack that has all the features that were important to me: storage (plenty of it and it's great), good reviews, comfort for the child, comfort for the adult, easy adjustability for two adults, a built-in water reservoir, and a reasonable sunshade. What is up with Kelty blocking the kid's view with that ridiculous shade??? I don't know about the rest of you but I take my kid into the mountains so she can see and appreciate nature.
We have also used this in DC and Manhattan and the previous reviewer was right--this is WAY better on the streets and on the subway than a stroller. We know. We tried the stroller thing on a different trip.
Anyway, my daughter has been riding in this since she was about eight months old and she's now two. We couldn't love it anymore. Oh, and everywhere I go I get compliments on it and people ask where I got it. That's because REI only carries Kelty and...well, REI brand.
