Eat bag July 26, 2010 andy jensen (ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, US) I use it for compressing clothes in my backbag to go motorcycling and the quality is great and made super strong
Solid construction, works great! June 11, 2010 J. Remick (Las Vegas, NV, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the Columbia 2009 Frosty Trail Hooded Sleeping Bag recently for a few camping/hiking trips, which comes in a giant bag rather than a compression sack like most newer sleeping bags. It's a larger, heavy sleeping bag but I could tell it would compress well if I had a good compression sack for it.
I bought the XXL compression sack as I wasn't sure if the sleeping bag would fit in anything smaller. The compression sack comes in a small, reusable pouch (with loops on each end, nice for hanging) and the sack is very well constructed. I only bought this one because I wanted to check its quality before buying more. I'll absolutely be purchasing multiple other sizes for various other purposes.
I stuffed my large sleeping bag in the compression sack and was very surprised to see just how far I was able to compress it with the compression sack. The straps, stitching and material of the sack seem very durable and quality built, though we'll have to see how it's doing in 6 months of use. One concern I had was the plastic pieces used to tighten and hold the straps. I was very happy to see that they are quality and won't break under the stress. They also hold the straps extremely well.
Also, the compression sack has a strap on one end that is great for a cary handle! I've added several photos of the sack with the sleeping bag compressed.
space saver May 6, 2010 big junior (florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased 4 of these comp. sacks. From xs to lg. Two I use for sleeping bags, one for the tent and the last one for clothes. Easy
to stuff, easy to compress. Strong and durable. Saves alot of space. If I didn't use the comp. sacks, it would be impossible to fit the gear in my weekend pack.
Not a bad compression sack... May 3, 2010 Jaredin Pon (United States) This is a pretty good compression sack. I could see this being great for a sleeping bag or large tarp or mosquito net as the compression straps are easy to adjust and the whole unit itself is very durable. The fact that these have excellent stitching makes this product for me. I have confidence that I can not only cinch things down, but that the straps won't tear away from the bag as they have on other compression sacks I've purchased. This one has survived quite a bit now and isn't showing its age yet. The only qualm I have with this item is the top. I've seen ones with zippers that simply open up like a lid, but this one, you have to loosen the straps and rotate it off. I'm guessing they did this because it cut down on the weight of the bag as it is noticeably lighter than its counterpart which I also purchased earlier, which is no longer sold by amazon.com, I guess. (It would be the one with a zipper I'm referring to.)
PROS:
Durable
Easy to use
CONS:
None
BOTTOM LINE: Great compression sack and highly recommendable. The fact it is very durable, easy to use and light, qualify it.
great for kids and adults with little patience February 25, 2010 Karen (Reston, VA USA) I like the design of this product. It makes it easy to pack a pad or sleeping bag and then use the compression straps to make it smaller.
